Practice Development Specialist, Capital Markets and Finance

Responsible for working with the Practice Development Lawyer, Practice Development Manager and the wider Practice Development team to support the Capital Markets practice group, with particular focus on providing support in relation to, and day-to-day responsibility for the management of knowledge sharing initiatives, research and innovation tools.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work closely with the Practice Development Lawyer and Practice Development Manager to help deliver a range of services aimed at developing and supporting the Capital Markets (encompassing equity capital markets as well as debt capital markets transactions related to banking and finance), and other related corporate practice groups as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge tools and know-how repositories, such as iManage and SharePoint to ensure that practice specific content is current and relevant; perform content management activities, under direction of the Capital Markets Practice Development Lawyer and Practice Development Manager.
  • Work alongside the global Knowledge Solutions team to develop and maintain knowledge channels (portal pages, Practice Sites, Matter Management tools, etc.) to facilitate access (search/browse) to relevant know-how and expertise.
  • Support internal Practice Development training activities, including preparing materials and delivering effective presentations to trainees, new joiners and other staff.
  • Act as a point of contact for enquiries on the firm’s precedent and know-how.
  • Work with colleagues from other professional support functions such as Library & Information Services, Business Development, and Learning and Development.
  • Gather end-user feedback on a continuous basis for input into practice group programs and overall firm program.
  • Support practice groups on substantive and non-substantive legal research (e.g., on internal and external resources and content).
  • Support the monitoring of legal and market developments and communication activities to maintain current awareness programs.

  • An aptitude for using technology and be highly computer literate.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, able to work with people of varying levels of seniority and expertise.
  • Ability to take ownership, work flexibly and be pro-active.
  • An organized approach to work and keen eye for detail.

Experience

  • 2-4 years’ experience working in a legal research or professional services organization.
  • Experience working in a (global) legal organization preferred.
  • Experience in practice support and key principles of information services, research and knowledge and content management.
  • An interest in knowledge management, research and innovation.
  • Educated to degree level, similar higher education or equivalent.
