Manager of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion – EME
This role will be based in either the Brussels, London or Paris offices.
Working with the Global Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, European DE&I Chair and senior Talent Team professionals, provide strategic leadership and managerial support for Firm diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives (DE&I) in the Firm’s offices in EME. Responsibilities will include leveraging best practices to inform Firm initiatives, data management and analysis, client and community interface, providing mentoring support and expertise, creating and implementing DE&I programming and education sessions, and administrative support.
This role will support both the Legal and Professional Staff populations in the EME offices.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement initiatives specifically geared to impact development, retention and promotion of women, LGBTQ+, and racial/ethnic associates, including assessing and leveraging trends (from legal industry and beyond) and successful initiatives implemented by other organizations.
- Represent the DE&I team and Firm by serving as a direct resource to internal and external clients on DE&I matters, including by working with other Talent Team members to advocate for the equitable staffing and development of associates. Lead EME DE&I Focus group.
- Contribute to DE&I team and Business Development team with respect to quarterly and annual client diversity questionnaires, RFPs and client interviews for EMEA-based clients.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of DE&I curricula and programming, including meeting agendas and programming, evaluating and liaising outside consultants, and supporting EME Working Groups and affinity groups Design and delivery of DE&I Education sessions for various EME Working Groups.
- Working with other members of the Talent Team, provide expertise and support to existing and new mentoring programs to increase mentoring opportunities at the Firm.
- Collaborate with practice groups on the development and evaluation on all associates with a focus on identifying deviations in the associate experience for underrepresented lawyers.
- Advise relevant committees, including European Talent Committee , with respect to DE&I initiatives, including but not limited to, participate in Committee meetings, and conduct relevant research and analyses.
- Draft, review and edit policies, processes, literature (internal and external) pertaining to DE&I across all EME offices.
- Assist with internal and external data management required to conduct frequent statistical analysis on Firm diversity metrics.
- Research and assess best practice materials, articles, and benchmarking tools generated and relied upon by Firm committees and the DE&I team.
- Monitor current diversity trends, articles, reports, and benchmarks used in the legal industry, financial sector, and comparable professions.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong educational background. Degree level in related fields preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience, preferably in corporate environment(s) with significant level of responsibility and at least 1-2 year’s expertise in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.
- Cross-cultural skills and awareness related to individuals from broad backgrounds, races, ethnicities, religions, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, and disability, amongst others.
- Experience and proven success with mentoring programs and resources.
- Can approach data with a critical mindset.
- Ability to multi-task and function comfortably under demanding deadlines.
- Team oriented and disposition to collaborate with members from various Firm departments, committees and external organizations.
- Detail-oriented and ability to complete tasks under minimal supervision.
- High degree of confidentiality, maturity and cultural sensibility.
- Experience in using databases, Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Power Point, and Word.
