Litigation Technologist

We seek a self-starting and curious litigation technologist to join our world-class eDiscovery group in Brussels.

Under the direction of two Managing Attorneys, who are the heads of the European division of the group, and in conjunction with other firm discovery attorneys and associates, our litigation technologists assist the legal teams in our European offices on technical aspects of litigation support and e-discovery. Successful litigation technologists demonstrate technical aptitude, a strong client service focus, excellent communication skills, resourcefulness, and effective problem-solving under pressure in our fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environment. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supports the eDiscovery group in all technical aspects of discovery work, including overseeing and tracking data collections, processing data into review platform, searching data, preparing data for attorney review, tracking review progress, performing consistency checks of tagging applied during attorney review, preparing data productions to regulators and opposing parties;
  • Assists in providing user support on discovery software and hardware;
  • Coordinates all aspects of technical support for discovery work with other litigation technologists and the designated discovery attorneys;
  • Recommends, develops, maintains and troubleshoots databases and data collections;
  • Assists in supporting computer networks, including management of virtual machines and network storage;
  • Oversees and monitors vendor projects for quality control, including performing quality and technical control of deliveries from vendors;
  • Prepares storage media with data productions along with chain-of-custody forms and provides instructions to recipients on how to view data;
  • Tracks media and data for discovery matters;
  • Assists in training attorneys and paralegals on use of document review platforms;
  • Keeps abreast of new industry trends and emerging litigation technology, including AI tools; and
  • Performs additional tasks as needed.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent experience required;
  • Understanding of key concepts of forensics, electronic discovery, litigation technology, and EDRM model preferred;
  • Certification as Relativity Administrator preferred;
  • Possesses strong interest in database technologies such as SQL and ability to write short scripts to perform various operations;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English, service-oriented attitude, and ability to work well under pressure;
  • Computer programming skills a plus;
  • eDiscovery vendor, IT training and/or paralegal experience a plus;
  • Effective presentation and reporting skills;
  • Strong administrative skills, including accuracy, attention to detail, and efficiency;
  • Ability to work effectively on own initiative and in team-based environment;
