Hurricane Harvey Victims Successfully Appeal Denials of FEMA Assistance

May 15, 2018

Cleary Gottlieb recently secured over $13,000 in FEMA assistance by filing successful appeals on behalf of four individuals whose homes were severely damaged by Hurricane Harvey and two of whom were initially unable to prove ownership of their homes because they had either inherited their homes without documentation or jointly owned their home with family members.

In these particularly complex appeals, one of our clients is living with severe disabilities, and two clients were renters and faced a series of evictions following the hurricane.

With the aid, our clients will be able to cover their rental payments and begin the process of repairing their homes.
