Cleary Gottlieb represents Deutsche Telekom in its establishment of a 50:50 joint venture in China with China Mobile. The joint venture agreement was executed in Berlin with the witness of the Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel on October 10, 2014 and other documents were executed in Beijing on October 31, 2014. Subject to approval of Chinese regulators, the joint venture company expects to start its business operation in China in 2015. Based on Deutsche Telekom’s connected car platform technology and China Mobile’s network resources as well as its local business development and operation experiences, the joint venture will conduct localized development, provide hardware, connected car cloud platform, system integration and operation, as well as content services to the vehicle line-fit and retro-fit markets.
