Cleary Gottlieb and JPMorgan Chase recently launched a remote clinic to support women-owned small businesses in New York City.
WE NYC, an initiative of NYC Small Business Services, and its WE Legal program hosted the event, referring 9 new clients for pro bono legal support. Among them were a photographer providing services to front-line workers, a voice coach, an arts education program, and a clothing manufacturer. Through WE Legal, WE NYC annually provides thousands of women entrepreneurs a range of services to help them negotiate, protect their assets, and ensure legal compliance as they grow their businesses.
The Cleary team hosted a training and CLE event on Monday, November 9, focusing on “Common Legal Issues in Representing Small Business Clients.” The discussion focused on frequently asked questions that new entrepreneurs raise, as well as issues related to the effects of COVID-19 on launching a small business. The clinic consults will take place remotely through November 20.
Cleary associates Brendan Cohen, Rachel Shapiro, Rita Sobral, Laura Daugherty, and Francesca Crooks led the CLE portion of the event.
