Cleary Gottlieb Adds Counsel Fred Martin to Global Capital Markets Practice

September 27, 2023

Cleary Gottlieb welcomes back counsel Fred Martin, who will join the firm’s capital markets practice.

Fred will be based in London, but will devote a significant amount of his time to our Paris practice.

Fred’s practice will focus on capital markets transactions, SEC reporting, corporate governance, and general corporate counseling on U.S. legal matters.

“We are delighted to welcome Fred back to Cleary,” said Sebastian Sperber, partner in the London office. “He is a truly excellent lawyer and will bolster our Paris and London capital markets practices.”

“I am really looking forward to re-joining Cleary,” said Fred Martin. “I know from first-hand experience the depth of quality they have across their extensive network of international offices. Their focus on exceptional service to clients is second to none.”

Fred previously worked in Cleary’s London and New York offices from 2011 to 2018. Since then, he has worked at leading international law firms in London and California.

“This is an exciting time for the London office. Fred’s arrival continues our growth strategy across the London office. His arrival should complement the recent partner hires of Nick Rumsby, Ian Shawyer, Ed Aldred, Solomon Noh, and Alastair Goldrein and help us continue building one of the strongest high-end offerings in the market,” said Tihir Sarkar, partner in the London office.
