Richard Cooper Named an ‘Outstanding Restructuring Lawyer’ by Turnarounds & Workouts

Cleary Gottlieb partner Richard Cooper has been named an “Outstanding Restructuring Lawyer” for 2022 by Turnarounds & Workouts.

Rich is among only 15 lawyers nationwide who have been honored for working on some of the year’s most significant restructurings.

Rich’s recent work has included representing:

• LATAM Airlines Group in its successful first-of-its-kind Chapter 11 cross-border restructuring involving in excess of $19 billion in debt and liabilities.
• Garuda, Indonesia’s flag air carrier, in its restructuring of approximately $9.58 billion of indebtedness with proceedings in the Indonesia, the U.S., and a number of other jurisdictions.
• AES’s subsidiary, Alto Maipo, in the restructuring of its debt under Chapter 11.
• An ad hoc group of secured bondholders in Stoneway Energy’s $984 million Chapter 11 restructuring.
• Apollo Capital as DIP lender and the largest post reorganization equity holders in Aeromexico’s Chapter 11 plan.
• Groupo Posados in its successful Chapter 11 “prepackaged” bankruptcy plan.
