Cleary Gottlieb’s Banking group was selected by Law360 as one of its Practice Groups of the Year, noting that “Cleary is one of the handful of firms that banks turn to when regulators get busy because of their extensive history in the field of bank regulation and the quality and depth of the counsel the firm’s banking practice has provided.”
Law360 noted that despite predictions that banks would be moving more of their legal work in-house after the brunt of the financial crisis had passed, “banks have continued to see the value that Cleary’s lawyers bring.”
Cleary partner Derek Bush told the publication, “Sophisticated inside counsel will still look to collaborate with creative outside lawyers who can bring a perspective shaped by working with multiple banks.”
In its profile of Cleary’s Banking group, Law360 points out that the firm is looking ahead at the rise of digital currency, citing our work with itBit Trust Co. LLC to secure a license for the first virtual currency exchange in New York.
Cleary also earned Practice Group of the Year recognition for Capital Markets, Competition, and Mergers and Acquisitions.
