Cleary Gottlieb’s London office launched an initiative with two of its pro bono partners, Toynbee Hall and The Entrepreneurial Refugee Network (TERN), to provide over 300 households in London with deliveries of hot meals via a local food bank.
The Toynbee Hall Community Centre re-opened to help a local food bank that is providing food to over 300 households in Tower Hamlets. The majority of the individuals and families that the food bank supports are vulnerable and have no recourse to public funds, and many of them are observing Ramadan.
Among the entrepreneurs in TERN’s refugee network are several catering small businesses, many of which have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Since May 11, 2020, these catering businesses have been preparing fresh halal meals each day for the food bank, which are being delivered seven days a week to families in need.
