India Business Law Journal has named Cleary Gottlieb among the 10 “Key Players” for India-related deals in its 13th annual report on law firms operating in the region.
The report says that Cleary is a “formidable force when it comes to India-related transactions,” and goes on to laud the firm’s “impressive year securing a string of multimillion-dollar deals.”
The report highlights the firm’s work for Brookfield Asset Management in the purchase of certain hotels and hospitality-related assets of Hotel Leelaventure for around $590 million; a UAE-based sovereign wealth fund and TPG in a $1.2 billion joint equity investment into UPL; Warburg Pincus and other investors on a $1.25 billion investment in Airtel Africa; and Azure Power on its $185 million SEC-registered follow-on offering.
Cleary partners Sunil Gadhia and James Brady were also commended in the report, with one client saying, “Their advice and guidance have been invaluable.”
Last year, Cleary was recognized by India Business Law Journal as among the top 12 law firms for India-related deals.
