Cleary Gottlieb has been named a finalist for two Legal Innovation Awards 2021 by LegalWeek: Innovation Trailblazer and International Law Firm Innovation.
Both award nominations are for the firm’s work representing the government of Barbados in its $774 million external debt restructuring. The bonds offered in the restructuring included an innovative “natural disaster clause” that allows Barbados to improve its financial resilience in the event of a natural disaster, which made Barbados the only country in the world whose public debt stock is climate resilient.
In addition, legal tech company 10BE5, which is collaborating with Cleary on a tool that helps create language for financial disclosure documents, has been shortlisted for Disruptive Technology of the Year and Impactful Incubator Project.
The LegalWeek Legal Innovation Awards, now in their seventh year, recognize innovation in the legal sector and the law firms, chambers, and in-house legal departments that have led precedent-setting, game-changing projects and initiatives.
The winners will be announced May 28, 2021. To learn more, click here.
