Paolo and Michele provided an overview of the key provisions of Directive 828/2017 on the encouragement of long-term shareholder engagement and its implementation in Italy. They also highlighted the most relevant amendments to the Corporate Governance Code, which is the Italian code of conduct for listed companies. Finally, they illustrated the role of activist funds and the main features of their campaigns, by describing recent cases and providing some practical advice on how to engage and deal with them effectively.
