Compensation and Benefits
Cleary offers a number of competitive benefits and important supplemental benefits and resources that support the total health and well-being of our employees, some of which are highlighted below:
Compensation and Financial Assistance:
- Annual compensation of $225,000 for first-year associates
- Salary advances for incoming associates of up to $20,000 are available within four months prior to joining Cleary or within three months after joining the Firm
- Judicial clerkship bonus available upon joining Cleary for those who have completed one or more judicial clerkships
- JD/MBA Bonus and an additional year credit for salary class
- Flexible Summer Funds Bonus to allow associates to have more flexibility and ownership around moving and bar processes prior to joining the firm

- Four weeks paid vacation (20 work days) accrued throughout the course of the year; five weeks (25 work days) accrued throughout the course of the year after four years of employment. The fifth week of vacation is accrued on a prorated basis based on anniversary date.

- Law school matching gift program of up to $500 annually
- Cleary Contributes hosted by Benevity will support and amplify philanthropy efforts by matching personal contributions to eligible non-profit organizations up to $1,000, or local equivalent, per year.

Other Notable Benefits and Resources:
- Parental Leave Policy: All new parents can take up to 15 consecutive weeks of paid parental bonding leave for the birth, adoption or permanent foster care placement of a child. Paid Parental Leave is in addition to any Disability Leave following childbirth, meaning that the total paid leave time for most birthing parents is 21-23 weeks.
- Emergency Child Care: A back-up child care service, located near the office, is available
- Milk Stork is a milk-delivery service for those nursing while travelling on business

- Flexible Work allows associates to spend some time working remotely in a secure, private location, and some time working onsite at their office location. Lawyers are be expected to be in the office three days a week with attendance required on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Most benefits noted are applicable to permanent U.S. hires joining the Firm immediately following law school studies or those joining directly from a judicial clerkship which immediately followed law school. Reimbursements and bonuses are considered taxable income.
