As an associate in Cleary’s Abu Dhabi office, you will have the opportunity to be involved in a wide range of practice areas, including M&A, capital markets, oil & gas, funds, finance, dispute resolution, financial regulatory, and sovereign work.
Our clients range from governments, through sovereign wealth funds, to major international corporations, private equity and investment funds, and ultra-high net worth individuals. The Abu Dhabi office is one of the smaller offices of the firm, with fewer than 10 lawyers, but has been involved in some of the largest and highest-profile transactions in the region and further afield. It is the hub of the firm’s Middle East and North Africa Practice (which also includes around 20 partners and counsel in London, New York, Paris, Frankfurt, and Milan), and Abu Dhabi lawyers regularly work as part of teams that include colleagues from other offices. Recent work has involved outbound M&A investments in targets in North and South America, Europe, and Asia and capital markets offerings in Iraq and Pakistan. We welcome applications from Arabic speakers.
Our Abu Dhabi office is located within the Abu Dhabi Global Market, the most recent free zone created in the UAE. The launch of the ADGM is an exciting development for the economy and legal landscape of the UAE and has offered our Abu Dhabi lawyers the chance to be involved in the development of new laws and regulations for an entirely new jurisdiction (based on English law and a UK/EU regulatory framework). The physical location of the office is ideal, on the 27th floor of an award-winning office development on Al Maryah Island, connected to the prestigious Galleria Mall, Rosewood Hotel, and Four Seasons Hotel, which together offer a diverse choice of restaurants and bars.
Abu Dhabi is a dynamic city whose ever-changing skyline is punctuated by historic and cultural attractions such as Qasr al Hosn, the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, and the Louvre Gallery. Permanent entertainment options such as Ferrari World and Yas Waterworld are supplemented by regular events including the Abu Dhabi F1 Grand Prix, Red Bull Air Race, Abu Dhabi Art festival, and frequent concerts. Weekend activity options include watersports, desert safari, or hiking in the mountains of the Mussandam peninsula, and 300+ days of sunshine per year make beach-going a regular feature of life here.
