Richard Bae Gong’s practice focuses on financial institutions, across a range of corporate and regulatory matters for banks and broker-dealers.

Richard joined the firm in 2022 and brings nearly a decade of experience working for large, global financial institutions as a stakeholder and an advisor. Prior to joining Cleary, he worked as an M&A and corporate strategy professional at Deutsche Bank and Guggenheim Partners. In these roles, Richard negotiated and executed several high-profile corporate divestiture and investment transactions as a principal, including Deutsche Bank’s exit from Argentina and Mexico, the divestiture of Deutsche Bank’s U.S. Private Equity Access Fund Platform to iCapital Network, and the sale of Maher Terminals to DP World and Macquarie. Richard started his career in investment banking at Piper Sandler (f.k.a. Sandler O’Neill and Partners), advising U.S. banks on M&A and capital markets transactions.
