Jon Polanec
International Lawyer
Jon Polanec’s practice focuses on competition law/antitrust and sports law.
His experience includes complex merger control proceedings, cartel investigations, abuse of dominance cases, and antitrust counseling, as well as a wide range of issues under EU law and sports-related matters.
His experience covers a range of industries, including steel, energy, AI, social networks, e-commerce, fertilizers, IT, finance, consumer goods, and sports. Jon represented clients before the European Commission, the Federal Trade Commission, the Department of Justice, the Competition and Markets Authority, and other authorities.
Prior to joining Cleary Gottlieb in the Brussels office in 2018, Jon completed a traineeship at the Legal Service of the European Commission and worked at the Court of Appeals in Slovenia, the Embassy of Slovenia in Washington, D.C., and as an associate at a law firm in Slovenia. Jon is currently a resident in the Washington, D.C. office.
