The New United Arab Emirates Arbitration Law: A Step Toward Modernization with Continuing Uncertainties

UAE Federal Law No. 6 of 2018 concerning Arbitration (the “New Arbitration Law”) was issued on May 3, 2018 and is expected to be published in the Official Gazette of the United Arab Emirates in the coming weeks.

It will come into force one month and one day from the date of publication. The promulgation and coming into force of the New Arbitration Law more closely align the UAE’s statutory arbitration regime with prevailing international standards and best practices.
