The European Commission Proposes Measures to Facilitate Actions in Damages

On June 11, 2013, the European Commission published a package of measures designed to facilitate private actions for damages: (i) a proposal for a directive on damages actions under national law for infringements of competition law; (ii) guidance for national courts on quantifying harm resulting from such infringements; and (iii) a recommendation for collective redress mechanisms in Member States for breaches of EU law.
