SEC Publishes Final Rules for Credit Rating Agencies, Reproposes Others

On February 2, the SEC published new rules regulating the activities of nationally recognized statistical rating organizations. The initial versions of these rules were first published for comment in June of last year, and in December of last year the SEC voted to adopt some of those proposed rules (with modifications in response to comments) and to re-propose others in modified form for further comment rather than adopting them. The attached memorandum describes the rules as published on February 2, which include both the rules adopted in December and the ones the SEC decided to re-propose for further comment.
