SEC Proposes New Requirements for Credit Ratings Agencies

On June 25, the SEC published a series of proposed rules concerning credit ratings, especially credit ratings of structured finance obligations. Among other things, the proposals would require public disclosure of all information that a rating agency relies on in issuing a rating of a structured finance obligation if that rating was paid for by the issuer, sponsor or underwriter.
