Last Thursday, following the release of the U.S. Treasury’s White Paper, we released an Alert Memo entitled “President Obama’s Financial Regulatory Reform Plan: Key Issues for Market Participants.”
In that memorandum, we identified those elements of the proposal that we believe may have the greatest consequences for market participants and highlighted the issues we expect to be the most important in the policy and political debate that has already begun on Capitol Hill.
The alert memorandum attached below considers in greater detail the issues we underscored last week. In particular, the memorandum focuses on seven critical areas: (1) Consumer Protection;
(2) Structural Regulatory Reform; (3) Resolution Authority; (4) OTC Derivatives; (5) Harmonization of Futures and Securities Regulation; (6) Securitization; and (7) International Coordination.
