The European Commission announced on 5 December 2013 the launching of a “Public Consultation on the review of the EU copyright rules” as part of its on-going efforts to review and modernise EU copyright law. The Consultation addresses the manner in which content is created, distributed and accessed and serves to ensure that the EU copyright regulatory framework stays “fit for purpose” in the digital age.
Consumers, service providers and right-holders are invited to provide opinions on the problems they perceive with the current rules and suggestions for legislative or other solutions. The Consultation will close on 5 February 2014.
