Mubadala Invests in Envirotainer

Cleary Gottlieb represented Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala), a sovereign wealth fund of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in its investment alongside EQT Private Equity (EQT), a global private equity firm headquartered in Sweden with over $100 billion of assets under management, in Envirotainer Holdings AB (Envirotainer).
The deal signed on June 1, 2022, with closing expected to occur in the next few weeks. Under the transaction terms, the enterprise value of Envirotainer amounts to about €2.8 billion. Mubadala and EQT acquired their majority stake in Envirotainer from Cinven and Novo Holdings.
Envirotainer is a private company founded in 1985 and based in Sweden, with offices in the United States, Germany, and Singapore. The company specializes in providing medical freight to pharmaceutical and biotech companies, and ships around 2 million doses of medicines per day for all major pharmaceutical manufacturers. Envirotainer has been key to the COVID-19 vaccine supply chain, shipping over 1 billion doses via 6,500 temperature-controlled airfreight containers. The transaction reflects the investors’ focus on health care services and freight logistics, perceived to be resilient to economic shocks.
