Iren Group Secures Win in ICA Investigation

Cleary Gottlieb successfully assisted the Iren Group before the Italian Competition Authority (ICA) in an investigation launched over an alleged abuse of dominant position in the district heating sector.

The ICA had investigated an alleged abuse of a dominant position regarding a price increase for district heating in the northern Italian cities of Parma and Piacenza in 2021-2023. By the final decision, the ICA closed its complex investigation without finding any infringements against the Iren Group, acknowledging that it did not charge any excessive prices.
