Debrett’s has included Koser Shaheen, a knowledge management attorney at Cleary Gottlieb, in its recently published list of the 500 leading figures in UK.
Maurits Dolmans, partner at Cleary and one of the firm’s Diversity Champions, commented: “We are delighted that Debrett’s has recognized Koser for her inspiring persistence in the face of adversity, and her work to promote diversity as general secretary at the Association of Muslim Lawyers and vice-chair of the Law Society’s Ethnic Minority Lawyers Division. These are notable achievements, and we are immensely proud of her.”
Koser first began to study law at the age of 32, having persuaded the admissions tutor at Birmingham City University to give her a place despite the fact that she had left school at the age of 11. She went on to graduate with the highest First Class Honors Degree in her year and completed a training contract, before joining the firm as a knowledge management attorney.
The Debrett’s 500 recognises Britain’s 500 most influential people. It is compiled by independent specialists in each of a number of sectors – from business and broadcasting to politics, science and law – who provide nominations to Debrett’s for the final 500.
The Debrett’s 500 was launched in 2014 to recognize those who inspire, influence and instigate change beyond expectation.
