Cleary Gottlieb welcomes Lillian Tsu as a partner in the New York office, focusing on capital markets, corporate governance, and compliance.
“We are delighted to welcome Lillian to our firm,” said Cleary Managing Partner Michael Gerstenzang. “Cleary’s market-leading global capital markets practice advises clients on their most innovative and significant matters. Lillian adds deep experience to this market-leading practice, and will help us continue to deliver exceptional service to our clients and to grow.”
“For decades, Cleary has been the go-to firm for issuers, sponsors, and investment banks for their most challenging transactions, and we’re known for developing new tools to help clients raise capital. Over the course of the past year and a half, we’ve been tapped to direct historic amounts of investment while counseling clients through their most complex reporting and governance questions, all under truly unprecedented circumstances,” said Cleary partner Francesca Odell.
Lillian comes to Cleary with nearly 20 years of experience serving as a trusted advisor to U.S. and international public companies in a variety of industries, providing practical advice on a full range of corporate and capital markets transactions, including equity and debt offerings, recapitalizations, consent solicitations, private equity investments, public company mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs and going-private transactions, as well as corporate governance, shareholder activism, and securities and compliance issues.
“Lillian’s impressive resume of broad-ranging client work and expertise on corporate governance matters dovetails nicely with our multidisciplinary approach, and her leadership in the industry and as a mentor for younger lawyers makes her a wonderful addition to our already formidable team,” said Cleary partner Adam Fleisher.
“Cleary has an excellent reputation for advising on the most complex governance, transactional, and regulatory matters,” said Lillian. “I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to the firm’s outstanding global capital markets practice and working with this distinguished team.”
Lillian has written and presented extensively on legal developments affecting public companies. Immediately before joining Cleary, she was a partner in the securities and public companies practice of a global law firm. She received a J.D. from Cornell Law School and a B.A. from Cornell University.
