Cleary Gottlieb continues to receive recognition as a leading international law firm in the 2025 edition of The Legal 500 Latin America.

Cleary was recognized in the region as a Tier 1 firm for Latin America in Banking and Finance, Capital Markets, and Corporate and M&A; a Tier 2 firm for Compliance and Investigations; and a Tier 3 firm for International Arbitration and Projects & Energy.

Cleary partners Richard Cooper and Jeffrey Lewis and senior counsel Nicolas Grabar continue to be recognized in The Legal 500 Hall of Fame. The Legal 500 Latin America also recognized partners Adam Brenneman, Francisco Cestero, Juan Giráldez, Jorge Juantorena, Chantal Kordula, Ari MacKinnon, and Lisa Vicens as “Leading Individuals.” Partner Manuel Silva was named a “Next Generation Partner.”

The firm received the following client and peer commendations for its extraordinary work in the region:

  • Banking and Finance – “It is a team with high intellectual preparation and good professional practice, which generates credibility. In addition, the team has a high response capacity in record time, which makes the difference with other law firms. They have offered training to our organization on contemporary topics in banking practice such as sustainable financing and sustainability-linked debt.”
  • Capital Markets – “Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP has incredible resources to deliver the best work for their clients. They have a team composed of high-level attorneys that are always available to help clients with different legal aspects.”
  • Corporate and M&A – “The Cleary team that takes care of Latin America has unique seniority and experience compared to its competitors. Not only are its members global references in their respective areas of activity, the office has enormous capacity to mobilize teams from other areas and regions whenever necessary. The technical quality and ability to present business solutions is unique among international offices operating in Latin America.”
  • International Arbitration – “I am an independent arbitrator and I have seen the Cleary team in an international arbitration involving a Latin American transaction. The team was outstanding. The written advocacy, the oral advocacy, the cross-examination of witnesses and the conduct of the evidentiary hearing were outstanding.”
  • Projects and Energy – “The office has a team (from partners to lawyers) who are extremely well qualified, not only from a technical point of view, but as business solvers. The firm’s senior partners are actually present. The entire team is always available and brings the necessary specialists. While in most offices we have to demand solutions or question different aspects or points of view, Cleary does this naturally, truly adding value.”
