Cleary Gottlieb Receives Sanctuary for Families Above and Beyond Award

Cleary Gottlieb Director of Pro Bono Practice Jennifer Kroman and a team of former Cleary associates were honored at the Sanctuary for Families Above and Beyond Awards.

The pro bono team was recognized for its skilled legal representation and trauma-informed advocacy in representing “Alicia,” a transgender immigrant survivor of sex trafficking. Sanctuary for Families noted that Cleary provided compassionate and devoted pro bono assistance to obtain immigration relief on Alicia’s behalf despite numerous challenges. As a result of the team’s steadfast efforts over several years, Alicia was successfully granted a T nonimmigrant visa in 2019, and Cleary has filed an application for lawful permanent residency on her behalf.
