Cleary Gottlieb Receives Lawyers Alliance 2022 Institutional Cornerstone Award

October 19, 2022

Cleary Gottlieb has received the Lawyers Alliance for New York 2022 Institutional Cornerstone Award.

The Institutional Cornerstone Award is Lawyers Alliance’s highest pro bono honor. Started in 1997, the annual Cornerstone Awards recognize outstanding contributions to business and transactional pro bono legal service. While it is exceedingly rare for an institution to receive this award more than once, Cleary, which was also honored in 1998, was determined to be well deserving of this year’s honor, which also marks the awards’ 25th anniversary.

The Lawyers Alliance recognized Cleary and its attorneys on multiple grounds: as a nonprofit law leader in the New York pro bono arena, for deftly handling a wide range of timely and complex legal projects on behalf of Lawyers Alliance’s nonprofit clients, and for the 1989-2022 externship program. The firm’s recent work with Lawyers Alliance includes 59 different pro bono matters for 52 organizations since July 1, 2017, as well as dozens of additional projects involving externs.

The Lawyers Alliance will present and announce the 2022 Cornerstone Awards on Thursday, November 17 at the Paramount Building in New York.
