Cleary Gottlieb Lawyers Honored at The Legal Aid Society’s 2021 Pro Bono Publico Awards

December 17, 2021

Cleary Gottlieb and 19 of the firm’s lawyers received The Legal Aid Society’s 2021 Pro Bono Publico Award.

This year, The Legal Aid Society recognized the Cleary attorneys who supported a wide range of criminal justice matters, including challenging the legality of the U.S. Immigration and Custom’s (ICE) enforcement policy of courthouse arrests and supporting the City of New York’s decision to publish police officer, firefighter, and correction officer disciplinary records, despite resistance from a range of stakeholders.

The Legal Aid Society also recognized the firm’s commitment to public service in the inaugural year of the Cleary Gottlieb Fellowship Program, which places associates at legal services organizations, like The Legal Aid Society, to provide critically needed legal work to underserved communities.

Cleary has partnered with The Legal Aid Society, the U.S.’s oldest and largest legal services organization, for over 25 years.
