Cleary Gottlieb was featured in two articles in the 2017 pro bono issue of The American Lawyer.
Cleary’s work tackling systemic sexual abuse in New York City’s Rikers Island jail complex was highlighted in one article entitled “17 Pro Bono Matters That Big Law Championed,” and another article entitled “Law Firms That Police the Police,” featured the firm’s representation of a class of women of color, many transgender, who claim to have been wrongly arrested under a New York City law that criminalizes loitering for the purposes of prostitution.
Cleary lawyers in New York and D.C. billed more than 55,000 pro bono hours in total in 2016.
