India Business Law Journal (IBLJ) has again named Cleary Gottlieb among the 15 “Key Players” for India-related deals in its 15th annual report on law firms operating in the region.
The report notes that Cleary’s “top-notch” practice is “on the ball on country-specific issues” and “well-connected to the local players.” Clients specifically commended partners Sunil Gadhia, Michael Preston, Nallini Puri, and Tihir Sarkar.
IBLJ highlights the firm’s work in connection with Ola Electric Mobility’s acquisition of Dutch company Etergo and Goldman Sachs’ $8 billion ReNew Power listing through a business combination with RMG Acquisition Corporation II, the first major Indian SPAC deal.
In February 2021, two Cleary deals won IBLJ awards, and in April, Sunil and Tihir were named to IBLJ’s 2021 “International A-List.” Last year, Cleary was also recognized by IBLJ as one of the 15 “Key Players” for India-related deals.
