Cleary Gottlieb Pro Bono Counsel & Director Katherine Hughes participated in the Pro Bono Institute Annual Conference.

Katherine spoke on the panel, “Playing Offense: Public Defenders and Law Firm Attorneys Fighting for Economic Justice,” which explored innovative pro bono initiatives recently launched by two defender organizations, The Bronx Defenders and Brooklyn Defender Services, which push toward advancing economic justice and entrepreneurship in justice-impacted communities. Panelists examined the projects’ motivations and evolution, discussed creative partnering with law firms, and emphasized the significance of non-traditional approaches that support organizational missions, focusing on lessons learned.
