On April 17, 2019, Cleary Gottlieb’s New York office hosted its annual Pro Bono Appreciation event to celebrate attorneys on Cleary’s 2018 pro bono “honor roll” and to thank the legal services organizations that partner with the firm to address the legal needs of the local, national, and international communities in which we live and work.
The pro bono honor roll recognized 270 Cleary attorneys worldwide who have dedicated over 100 hours to pro bono or public service, or otherwise contributed in a meaningful way to the firm’s pro bono practice during the past year. Over 150 attendees from Cleary and partner legal services organizations were at the New York event.
Chinyere Ezie, former Cleary associate and Staff Attorney at the Center for Constitutional Rights served as the keynote speaker. Chinyere is a nationally recognized civil rights lawyer and social justice activist who specializes in constitutional litigation and anti-discrimination work. She has been recognized as one of the country’s “Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40.”
In 2018, Cleary lawyers logged over 90,000 hours worldwide to pro bono legal and public service efforts and served over 700 clients, 200 of which were new clients.
