Cleary Gottlieb partner Luke Barefoot participated in the webinar, “Distressed Airlines: The Modern Toolkit for Asia and Beyond,” organized by INSOL International.

Luke joined a panel that discussed the restructuring of three Asian airlines: (1) Thai Airways, (2) NOK Air, and (3) Hong Kong Airlines, and the restructuring of LATAM Airlines, based in Chile.

The panel discussed the various challenges which may arise during an airline restructuring and the available tools in different jurisdictions to meet such challenges. Specifically, the panel addressed topics such as the international dynamics of an airline restructuring, securing financing opportunities in a restructuring plan, and strategies for gathering creditor support.
