Natural gas consumption reduction is key for ensuring security of supplies and ending EU dependence on Russian fossil fuels. Thanks to a set of measures, the EU and Member States managed to drop the consumption of natural gas by 17% in the period August 2022-March 2023, compared with the average gas consumption for the same months (August-March) between 2017 and 2022.
